Lip liner is a truly forgotton gem. To be honest it does lay in my dresser all neglected and feeling sorry for itself. I would like to say I own a colour to match every lipstick but nope, I don’t, I just seem to own various shades of nude. Although liner has been tarnished by the nighties, used right it should serve a rightful place in everybody’s collection.
Small feathery strokes are key, you don’t want solid lines, unless thats the look your going for. Don’t go above your natural lip line, its not a food look, it looks obvious and unless your a pro makeup artist, don’t do it!
For a long lasting lip colour, lip pencil has the lasting power and I’ve seen pro artists use just a pencil for the entire lip. It looks amazing if you want a strong, matte lip and if you have the right colour it can look really effective; think oranges and reds!
Now I managed to grab this beauty for £2.00 in TKMaxx by New CID which is currently £16.00 on feelunique.com here. Another fab nude is MAC’s Spice and for a deep purple MAC’s Vino. Check out Vino in full force here.
Seen as though I updated you lovelies on my go-to mascara’s yesterday,I thought I’d best give you a run down on making the most of those peepers. Please excuse the lots of eye ball pics!
First step, if you haven’t already, GO GET SOME SHU UEMURA EYELASH CURLERS!! NOW! These are not just your regular eyelash curlers, they are ‘thee’ eyelash curler. They will change your life! So clamp them right at the root and lift your hand upwards as you clamp. This helps give that wide-awake look.
Then grab you mascara and place the brush right at the root and in a zig-zag motion work the mascara into the lashes, right to the tip. Start from outer to the inner corner of the eye, don’t forget those baby lashes!
If you want some serious separation, use a lash comb, a good one is by Ruby and Millie, or very carefully use some tweezers to pry the lashes that are clumped together. I like to layer coats for high impact, but for day to day lashes, a couple of layers does it! I usually use the tip of my brush on the bottom lashes; in a left-right motion across. You don’t want spider lashes, so you don’t need too much product, therefore leave the bottom ones until last.
When your happy with the layering and separating, clean up with a cotton bud or if your fancy, or have had a recent glossy box, use an eye makeup remover pen.
So your done! Gorgeous, fluttery eyelashes!YEY!
Now if you read my last post you’ll know I spoke about YSL and The Falsies mascaras. I thought I’d do one eye with the drug store and the other with the high end. I think the drug store looks the best! What do you think?
I know I maybe teaching you to suck eggs but this is a fab video for some serious application technique…click here
I’ve been lusting, well, more drooling over this product for the past knows how long; so when I spotted this beauty on Xmas day I was more than overjoyed! Hmmm, I may have made a slight whooping noise.
Now I’m usually a complete powder-phobe; the matte look tends to look cakey-drag queen on me, eeek! But Hourglass Ambient Powderpromises the perfecto ‘dewy’ finish that not only keeps your makeup in place, but airbrushes out imperfections. You can see why this sounded like my kinda powder; yes, I couldn’t grab my makeup brush quick enough!
Apply a little bit here and a little bit there and hey presto it’s a little short of fabulous. My skin instantly looks luminous, softer and glow-y in a hey, this could face could have been done by a pro-ish. I’m used to seeing cakey powders that sink and set in all the wrong places, but this, absolutely not.
The downside is parting with £38!! (Jaw drop) but I would say definitely go for it. If not save, save, save! I’ve only had it wee while but a little reading around and beauty bloggers alike comment on its longevity! So that, with its genius formula gives it the Yorkshire thumbs up for pence wear.
It comes in six shades and I’m the proud owner of Dim Light.YEY!
I’ve spoken of my love of leather and black cherry hues on the lips and nail, but I can’t help but re-discover new shades of deep berryness and how ‘right now’ it looks with leather!
I know it all can be a little halloweeneey but trust me, do a big ‘YES’ to the vamped up trend. You’ll end up like me, swatching only these colours.
My especially fave lippie shade is MAC’s Diva; although it looks all deep and purple-y, it photos a little redder but still looks amazing. If you check my Merry Berry Lips post here you’ll see a swatch of Diva and a multitude of very similar shades (I told you, I’m hooked!)
Now saying that, I thought they’re can’t possibly be another dark purple-y lipstick I don’t know about, but NO, I was wrong and even more so a matching lip liner!! Tut! The shame of it when my beautiful friend Emily handed over MAC Media lippie and matching Vino lipliner!
To match my vampy lips, I painted Nails Inc’s Victoria; this is a perfect dark and daring shade and I LOVE IT!
So if you’re going to wear the lips and the nails, I say, grab yourself some leather, go oooon, do it!
Lacking the inspiration? Check out my past post here…
Yes it’s one of those jobs that I HATE, but it needs to be done; that’s right…cleaning your brushes. But thanks to my Glossy Box I’ve found a fab soap that brings your brushes up a treat! I literally squeezed a little soap straight onto a wet brush, rubbed it in with my fingers, then rinsed it under ran it under a warm tap. I was amazed with the result, one brush completely changed colour…shameful!
Now I’ve seen these Dr Bonner Castile liquid soaps in TKMaxx, but you can get them online for about 6/7 quid!
I did a bit of research and these soaps are used for a multitude of things; I have the Baby Cast which has no fragrance but there are a few different smells which all use organic oils and are especially fab for people who have allergies or sensitive.
Water, Organic Coconut Oil*, Potassium Hydroxide**, Organic Olive Oil*, Organic Hemp Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, Citric Acid, Tocopherol.
* CERTIFIED FAIR TRADE INGREDIENTS
** None remains after saponifying oils into soap and glycerin
Any whoooo, this will definitely be a repurchase and I completely recommend this for cleaning your makeup brushes, 10/10!
As I’ve been down to London I managed to have a wonder around one of my favourite shops & Other Stories.
There is only one store in the UK; Regents St! SOB! But I’ve had the pleasure, over the summer to pop in the Milan and Barcelona store. My friend and I picked up these rings in Barcelona and I grabbed this eye brush in London last week.
It has a large make up and cosmetics section, which has a variety of brands but also their own. The clothes are Zara-esque, yet slightly pricier. I especially like their accessories. If your in London make sure you drop by, they’re also available online
These beauts were from Poundland!!! Check it out as I believe people have dropped on Stila!
Maybelline Brow Drama in Dark Blonde; £4.99 at Boots… There’s buy one, get on half price at the mo, so I also bought L’oreal Color Tattoo in Permanent Taupe.
The latter is great, does exactly what you expect and lives up to the hype! This one is matte and stays all day with no dreaded crease line! I love this colour too, very wearable…
But I’m sorry brow drama… I’m disappointed; it says it has a no streak, no clump formula, yes it may, but the product application is inconsistent, leaving you with patchy eyebrows. I think you may as well use something like Brow Beater by HD Brows which is more or less a clear mascara…
Its dog tooth on one side and tartan on the reverse; it’s very oversized, which I love (minus the neck ache) and extremely comfy. I can’t wait to wear this over the chilly months! It costs £19.99 but well worth it.
H&M Biker Jacket was a steal at £34.99 and there doing a £5.00 off voucher when you buy in store. I’ve been looking for a jacket for this in between weather and I’d seen something similar in Topshop for like 80 quid, so when I saw this it ticked all the boxes. It has a detachable fur cover which, I think looks a bit cheap and nasty so I took it off. Check it out online here.
I think I’ve blogged about this before; this arrived in my Glossy Box a few months ago and since I’ve been addicted. I use it for work instead of foundation; as I hate looking too dolled up, especially for work, therefore a great happy medium. At the minute there is a 1/3 off at Boots. It says it’s suitable for 30+ but I don’t think it matters, its packed with the good stuff, its spf40 and I.LOVE.IT.
Last, but not least, I succumbed to Boots 3 for 2 deal and purchased these.
I’d heard a few raves on various blogs about the EverRiche range and being a hair snob sticking to either Joico or Sebastian. I was sceptical. I’ve not properly used them yet to give an honest review, but I know L’Oreal own Kerastase so hoepfully it’ll compare. I did used to use the pink Elvive and loved it, until someone told me it put a plastic like coating on your hair so that you thought it felt health but really it was’nt 😦 … sad times…
