Skimming Instagram and my fave bloggers I came across the new ‘in’ thing. And yes, thank the Lord, it has brought comfort back to our crippled tootsies. The Vans laceless beauties have had a fashion re-work, because lets be honest we are no Avril-skater-boy. As much as I’d like a pair of the Celine Skate slip ons sneaks, they are way out of my price range. But the Great British high street has come to my rescue and provided some top notch dupes.
Grab them before they go, you heard it here first, well, kinda!
Check out my fave fashion lady who wears the slip on sneaks in that ever-so cool way! Envious face…
I love an outlet scrounge and for the past couple of weekend I’ve ended up visiting York and Cheshire Oaks outlet stores.
I came back with this beautiful coat, which I grabbed at The Kooples and other bits and bobs including some MAC makeup and a couple Yankee Candles.
If you managed to get to either designer outlet; my fave stores include The Kooples, The Cosmetic Store, Yankee Candle and Penhaligons (amazing perfumery!) at York; then, Mulberry, All Saints and Joseph at Cheshire Oaks.
Anywhoo, this is the outfit I wore to Cheshire Oaks, its outside and it’s been super chilly, hence the bobble hat!
Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs
Jeans: Miss Selfridge
Coat: The Kooples
I’ve done a little research and these outlet stores can be found around Europe too! For us brits they are spotted up and down the country. Check this link here to see if one is near you!
I went to meet my lovely friend today and quickly took some piccies of my new Zara jumper.
I bought this in the sale for £22.99! I chose it because of the roll neck, which I’m loving atm and the colour is to die for. I teamed it up with my all time fave American Apparel Riding Pants, Topshop boots and my Marc by Marc Jacobs bag. My necklace is from Collard Manson and my rings are from &OtherStories.
Seen as though I updated you lovelies on my go-to mascara’s yesterday,I thought I’d best give you a run down on making the most of those peepers. Please excuse the lots of eye ball pics!
First step, if you haven’t already, GO GET SOME SHU UEMURA EYELASH CURLERS!! NOW! These are not just your regular eyelash curlers, they are ‘thee’ eyelash curler. They will change your life! So clamp them right at the root and lift your hand upwards as you clamp. This helps give that wide-awake look.
Then grab you mascara and place the brush right at the root and in a zig-zag motion work the mascara into the lashes, right to the tip. Start from outer to the inner corner of the eye, don’t forget those baby lashes!
If you want some serious separation, use a lash comb, a good one is by Ruby and Millie, or very carefully use some tweezers to pry the lashes that are clumped together. I like to layer coats for high impact, but for day to day lashes, a couple of layers does it! I usually use the tip of my brush on the bottom lashes; in a left-right motion across. You don’t want spider lashes, so you don’t need too much product, therefore leave the bottom ones until last.
When your happy with the layering and separating, clean up with a cotton bud or if your fancy, or have had a recent glossy box, use an eye makeup remover pen.
So your done! Gorgeous, fluttery eyelashes!YEY!
Now if you read my last post you’ll know I spoke about YSL and The Falsies mascaras. I thought I’d do one eye with the drug store and the other with the high end. I think the drug store looks the best! What do you think?
I know I maybe teaching you to suck eggs but this is a fab video for some serious application technique…click here
Lets talk mascara, right? I think us ladies are all on a voyage to find ‘The One’. Unfortunately, I am still searching and I think that search will never end. On the plus I have tried and tested insane amounts of mascara and what I can tell you, there is hope!
I’ve long been a fan of YSL Volume Effects Cils mascara; its beautifully packaged and feels luxurious. You can really pile on the layers, so your lashes are left thick and ultra plush. The down side, it dries fast; so no pump-pumpy action (that is the in and out pumping action=air in the tube=VERY DRY MASCARA!) and make sure you twist it tight when you’ve finished using it! Thats you told!
Lancome, lancome, lancome, how I loved your Hypnose mascara; I can’t say the same for L’Extreme. The instant lash drama just isn’t there and for £22.00, I expected more. My lashes were left limp, stubby and wet, something that you’d expect from a cheaper mascara.
Now as cheaper mascaras go, I’ve been juggling Maybellines ‘The Falsies‘ and L’Oreals Telescopic. The Falsies made famous by Tanya Burr has lived up to the hype. I use this as my go-to mascara, its great for work but really build-able if you want high impact. A definite repurchase for 2014. As for Telescopic, made famous by Anna from Viviannadoesmakeup. Although Anna is a fave of mine, this mascara isn’t. It just didn’t work for me. It left my lashes really wet and straight, with no lift what-so-ever. The only positive; lash seperation.
Although I am impressed with what the beauty world is offering, I still feel that there is room for a stand out, AMAZING mascara. All I want is lift, volume, length, longevity, no flaking, no clumps and no drying out; is that too much to ask? hmmm maybe.
