Partial to the odd luxury product-yes, but for ol’ day to day usage, Soap and Glory take righteous place. In a heavily dominated ‘big brand’ market, filled with generic shower gels and body lotions, I must say nothing really comes close; it’s well priced, smells amazing and their kitsch, witty phrased packaging hits all the right buttons. Whats great is that I managed to get my hands on The Yule Monty gift set. Call it a gift from me to me at the bargain price of £27! Any whoo, my bottom draw is now packed to the rafters and these beauty’s are going to last me the whole year.
A little secret, their Original Pink Formula 1 eau de parfum is a complete Miss Dior dupe.

Lets talk mascara, right? I think us ladies are all on a voyage to find ‘The One’. Unfortunately, I am still searching and I think that search will never end. On the plus I have tried and tested insane amounts of mascara and what I can tell you, there is hope!
I’ve long been a fan of YSL Volume Effects Cils mascara; its beautifully packaged and feels luxurious. You can really pile on the layers, so your lashes are left thick and ultra plush. The down side, it dries fast; so no pump-pumpy action (that is the in and out pumping action=air in the tube=VERY DRY MASCARA!) and make sure you twist it tight when you’ve finished using it! Thats you told!
Lancome, lancome, lancome, how I loved your Hypnose mascara; I can’t say the same for L’Extreme. The instant lash drama just isn’t there and for £22.00, I expected more. My lashes were left limp, stubby and wet, something that you’d expect from a cheaper mascara.
Now as cheaper mascaras go, I’ve been juggling Maybellines ‘The Falsies‘ and L’Oreals Telescopic. The Falsies made famous by Tanya Burr has lived up to the hype. I use this as my go-to mascara, its great for work but really build-able if you want high impact. A definite repurchase for 2014. As for Telescopic, made famous by Anna from Viviannadoesmakeup. Although Anna is a fave of mine, this mascara isn’t. It just didn’t work for me. It left my lashes really wet and straight, with no lift what-so-ever. The only positive; lash seperation.
Although I am impressed with what the beauty world is offering, I still feel that there is room for a stand out, AMAZING mascara. All I want is lift, volume, length, longevity, no flaking, no clumps and no drying out; is that too much to ask? hmmm maybe.
I much prefer buying for girls then guys but I have a boyfriend, a brother, a dad, mum’s boyfriend and 2 nephews!!! Therefore I have LOTS of experience on buying for guys. To help you out, I’ve put a few bits together so your male counter-part are fulfilled this Christmas 😉
My boyfriend LOVES Clinique skin supplies for man. He’s tried lots of different products but this is his favorite. The scrub is super grainy and I like how the packaging looks too. You can get these in Boots here
A decent watch doesn’t go down a miss; I think Casio and Timex do some cool ones.
Hair wise, American Crew is a fail safe. The shampoo and conditioner is very good and the pot fibers I’ve bought and replaced year after year. They smell really nice and go down a treat at Xmas. Buy it here.
I love male aftershave and usually have a different favorite each year; this year I’m loving Chanel Bleu. It’s manly, its not too heavy or offensive, I think any chappy old or young could pull it off. FIT! Get it here.
Clothes are always tricky unless your buying the the same items year in, year out. What I can tell you is that if your looking for a decent pair of jeans, look no further than Edwin. You prob won’t be able to surprise someone with these, they’d need to try them on. SO, put your Levi’s and Diesels aside, these are your new jeans. GO GET THEM NOW! here. Whilst your stopping off at ASOS, there wash bags are a beaut, I loooove this surf style and it’s a steal at £14.00.
Trainers!! I’m really loving New Balance trainers, yes I know they’ve been around a bit now but I think they still look really nice. The colours go with loads too, my fave are these grey ones, but I also like the burgundy ones too. Check them out here
Merry Male Christmas shopping. Just remember to bob a new lippy in for good measure, makes you feel better!
I bought these two beauties in London at the weekend. They were impulse purchases, which I think are generally the best!
I’m always drawn to Sleek products because they are soooo pigmented and have some incredible Mac dupes. This lip pot reminds me of a lip conditioner I had years ago from Mac, for some reason they even sell them anymore, but they were pretty much the same.
These Sleek Pout Polish come in 12 shades and every single one I swatched in Superdrug was loooovely. But, seen as though its Autumn, I went for the Perfect Plum shade. Although it’s classed as a lip conditioner, it is not a balm; its super glossy but not sticky like a lip gloss. I’ve worn it on couple of occasions and you have to keep reapplying. You also need to apply it with a lip brush; you can’t just slap it on your lips or clown comes to mind… 😉
Then, I picked up this Rimmel London Colour Rush Balm in Drive Me Nude. I think there a copy of the Cliniques’ chubby sticks but for a third of the price. I’ve never had a chubby stick but I’ve heard great reports saying there amaaze! So, I probably should pick one up!
Over the past couple of days I’ve been wearing this and found it to be more drying to say it’s a balm. I’m still not won over by the formula but I’ll keep going with it. The colour has a reddish undertone and very build-able for a nude shade which makes it incredibly wearable. It comes in 7 shades.
These beauts were from Poundland!!! Check it out as I believe people have dropped on Stila!
Maybelline Brow Drama in Dark Blonde; £4.99 at Boots… There’s buy one, get on half price at the mo, so I also bought L’oreal Color Tattoo in Permanent Taupe.
The latter is great, does exactly what you expect and lives up to the hype! This one is matte and stays all day with no dreaded crease line! I love this colour too, very wearable…
But I’m sorry brow drama… I’m disappointed; it says it has a no streak, no clump formula, yes it may, but the product application is inconsistent, leaving you with patchy eyebrows. I think you may as well use something like Brow Beater by HD Brows which is more or less a clear mascara…
Its dog tooth on one side and tartan on the reverse; it’s very oversized, which I love (minus the neck ache) and extremely comfy. I can’t wait to wear this over the chilly months! It costs £19.99 but well worth it.
H&M Biker Jacket was a steal at £34.99 and there doing a £5.00 off voucher when you buy in store. I’ve been looking for a jacket for this in between weather and I’d seen something similar in Topshop for like 80 quid, so when I saw this it ticked all the boxes. It has a detachable fur cover which, I think looks a bit cheap and nasty so I took it off. Check it out online here.
I think I’ve blogged about this before; this arrived in my Glossy Box a few months ago and since I’ve been addicted. I use it for work instead of foundation; as I hate looking too dolled up, especially for work, therefore a great happy medium. At the minute there is a 1/3 off at Boots. It says it’s suitable for 30+ but I don’t think it matters, its packed with the good stuff, its spf40 and I.LOVE.IT.
Last, but not least, I succumbed to Boots 3 for 2 deal and purchased these.
I’d heard a few raves on various blogs about the EverRiche range and being a hair snob sticking to either Joico or Sebastian. I was sceptical. I’ve not properly used them yet to give an honest review, but I know L’Oreal own Kerastase so hoepfully it’ll compare. I did used to use the pink Elvive and loved it, until someone told me it put a plastic like coating on your hair so that you thought it felt health but really it was’nt 😦 … sad times…
NOO I don’t want to think about it, as it’s far to traaaumatic!
We now find ourselves saying goodbye to summer, hello to autumn and asking winter to bugger off, for now… The shops are filling up with jumpers, coats and boots, which I love, but it’s like a hard slap and a too quick of a reminder for us to dig out our warm clothes.
So whilst Jack Frost isn’t quite here, I decided to fish out some trends that will help us get excited about this chilly season and less mortified that we’ll be seeing Christmas-y things in the supermarket… eeeek!
So tartans everywhere, I think head to toe would give you a head ache but a mini dress with tights and biker boots with a leather jacket or a tartan tee is a great way to stay bang on trend this Autumn…
For some stupid reason my blog post decided to delete itself!! bluuergh, so now I’m here typing away again…
Sooo I pulled myself together to show you some of the new things I’ve been using/ buying this month!
The first piccie are some sandal from Primark that I picked up… I saw these on a haul video on YouTube by ThePersianBabe. She’s one I love to watch and she talks about things without being pretentious, or plugging products that you can’t afford. They’re really comfy and I’m planning in wearing to add a little bit of edge to summery outfits. They look good quality and more Topshop the Primark, so I’m really impressed! And then I got some 3 quid beauties! There jellie sandal and I’ve had a pair before and after about 5 years they snapped… SOB! So theses are taking there place YEY!
Then I headed over to Boots and bought a few essential top ups like Tresemme Freeze hold and Batiste dry shampoo. Both of these products I keep stocked up on and I haven’t found any better replacements so thank you Tresemme adn Batiste. Pluuuus, they were on offer; buy one, get on half price… I also took advantage of this by buying the much raved about MaxFactor Miracle touch cream blush and Maybelline The Falsies. I’ve tried the blusher and jeeebers… its amaze! You look fresh and it give you that healthy glow. I bought it in soft pink. Also, in this pic is a room fragrance diffuser, I picked this up in Primark for £3.00 and I love it! I bought the coconut milk and mango, ohhhh my living room smells like holidays and its not too strong or faint, so for 3 quid I’m very impressed and will be purchasing more, yes sir!
Then I decided to try the Michael Todds Detoxifying Charcoal facial mask. I bought this after my favorite vlogger, Tanya Burr kept raving about it. I was skeptical at first, as you can’t buy it in the UK and therefore I had to buy it online from the US. Buuuut, they were super speedy with delivery and it came to around £23 ish all together. I do think its fab! I don’t know whether it rivals the REN radiance renewal mask however. But, it does make your skin appear clearer and more luminous. I use it around 2-3 times per week, depending on how my skins looking…
Then lastly I took a little trip to York designer outlet… There is a fab shop there called The Cosmetics Company, I also know there is one at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet. Any whooo, I picked up these two products, the first being a cleansing oil, by Origins. Now, I’ve been trying out a number of facial oils from Shu Uemera, DHC and Clarins Pure Melt and wasn’t quiet ready to hand over the spondoolies, as there pretty $$$$£££. So I settled for this gem, I think I paid £14 and I think it’s usually around £20 and it works a treat. It does a really good job at taking all your makeup without feeling like your being harsh on your skin. It smells very aromatherapy-ee and feels lovely to use.
Next, I picked up Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Powder Pink. This is the old packaging, I think, hence it being in the outlet, but it looks like you get more then the pot rouges in the new style, not too sure on this, but I have the pot rouge melon and it seems just a taaad bit smaller… hmmm. I do love cream blushers so now have both the miracle touch and this to play with whoohoo! I haven’t used it properly yet but I’m sure it’ll get its wear! Yep, yep!
